YEARS OF DANCE AND FRIENDSHIP
We have set off on the cheerful road of folkloric joy in 1998 with the full understanding and support from Sarajevo Canton; City of Sarajevo, Old Town, Center, New Sarajevo and New Town municipalities; Federal Ministry of education, science, culture and sport.
In the following years we had excellent issues of the Festival, with guest performers from: Albania, Egypt, Croatia, Macedonia, Sweden, Phillipins, Georgia, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, Montenegro, Czech, France, Turkey, Poland, Spain, Germany, Senegal, U.S.A., Greece, Austria, Mexico, India, Russia, Slovakia, Northern Cyprus, Malaysia and of course, many groups from BiH, including all folklore groups from Sarajevo.
In all the previous years the Festival kept up a tradition of having ten(ish) groups a year, out of which 5 or 6 from abroad. That adds up to about 2700 guest performers from around 30 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and America in more than 160 concerts, defiles and promenades through the streets and squares of Sarajevo City and Sarajevo Canton. All in all, more than 5300 domestic and foreign dancers and musicians presented the beauty and wealth of their dances to the citizens of Sarajevo, our guests and tourists.
