“International Festival of Playing on Traditional Instruments”is the first event of its kind in Serbia.Festival’s aim is to bring together performers of traditional music instruments from all around the world. The initiative to launch this festival should be understood in the context of preservation of intangible cultural heritage. Previous similar projects in Serbia have sought to present contemporarly fusions of traditional music in accordance with the popular stage concept of World Music or the so-called Ethno-music. In contrast, thisfestival’s main conceptis to present traditional folk music in its authentic form, on the platform of preserving cultural heritage. For this reason, the festival in Vrbas is connected with the Serbian national section of CIOFF, which operates underthe patronageof the UNESCO organization, by an agreement on business and technical cooperation.
International Festival in Vrbas invites artists who play on string, wind and percussion traditional instrumentsto apply.Applications should be sent exclusively via Festival’s email: world.fest.vrbas@gmail.com
Food and accommodation for all participants will be provided by the festival’s organizers in the CFK Holiday Park Hotel in Vrbas.Participants - soloists will be obliged to give two performances on two different occasions in Vrbas: on May 21 in Lazin Park and on May 22on Nikola Pešic Square.
