Ballus Incontro Internazionale del Folklore - Uta

International

Pro Loco Uta organizes, every year in the first week of August, “Ballus - International Folklore Festival”, created in 2001 by Romano Massa, President of Pro Loco Uta and artistic director of the festival. The festival aims to promote mutual knowledge between different realities, protection of cultural roots, acceptance of diversity, and a policy of peace between people. A rainbow of thousand colors between the cultures of this world to live folklore to the fullest. Ballus is one of the most appreciated and known international folklore festivals in Sardinia and welcomes, every year, thousands of spectators who attend, for 5 days, to a great show of dances, sounds and colors from all over the world.
In addition to the international events, the festival devotes a lot of attention to the promotion and valorisation of traditional and popular expressions of our island, with some sardinian folk groups and the show “Pichiadas - sounds and voices of the popular dance” with the greatest sardinian traditional musicians accompained by dance couples wearing traditional clothes that will shows dance steps of various sardinian geographic areas.
The main scenery of the event is the romanic church of Santa Maria from Uta, dating back to the 12th century. This location is so beloved from inhabitants of Uta and guarantees a special, magical and unique atmosphere.
Ballus has a greater resonance by the fact that, every year, all the shows are aired on “Speciale Ballus” on Sardegna Live and Videolina tv and the gala evening will be broadcast on Sardegna Live web tv.
