The bagpipes are a traditional instrument in the popular music, and the town of Strakonice with its surroundings has been a country of bagpipers since time immemorial. In this region, the bagpipes ranked among the most favoured and played instruments. The famous Czech playwright Tyl had been inspired by this fact to compose his known stage-play "The bagpiper of Strakonice" in the 19-th century.
